Hercules was possibly the most famous of Roman heroes. Many people in Rome as far up as some emperors worshiped his myth and fashioned themselves in the style of Hercules.

The only problem was that Hercules was not really Roman. He was a hero that the Romans stole from previous civilizations, notably the Greek and Etruscan civilizations. The truth is that much of Roman mythology was adapted from these two past civilizations. But lets not quibble over mere details, you’re after a Halloween costume, no ? This Hercules costume is styled in the theme of a Roman soldier costume and should give you a unique look for the Halloween party. Here’s a bit more on this fine outfit.

The costume is pretty much as you see it in the picture. You get a white tunic that covers the torso and ends just above the knee. The tunic has short sleeves and slips on over the head. Over the tunic, you will wear the vinyl body armor. As you can see in the picture, this covers most of the tunic and makes you look like a soldier or warrior of some kind. In keeping with the warrior aspect, you also get arm bands, wrist cuffs and leg guards. These are made of the same material as the body armor.

The finishing touches to this costume are the cape and the headpiece. Again, the cape really makes it look like a ancient Rome type of costume an is in the imperial Red color that we associate with the Roman Empire . The headpiece is made of the same vinyl as the body armor and has the same design as the wrist cuffs and arm bands.

The sword and sandals do not come with the costume, nor does the wig. What he’s wearing a wig you say ? Yes it’s a pretty convincing look…not ! Anyhow, you could wear the wig or not bother. If you watched the Clash of the Titans movie recently, you would notice that the Perseus character has been updated or modernized a bit and this includes a more modern haircut. So why not give your Hercules as modern looking hairstyle at the Halloween party….go on I dare you. And before you start, I know clash of the Titans is about ancient Greece, but it the same thing…olden times, mythology, killing monsters, rescuing maidens, battling the gods etc.

Again, this Hercules costume would go down well at the Halloween party and is sure to get you a few admiring glances. Are you ready to accomplish the 12 labors of Hercules this Halloween ? Nothing about killing a Cretan Bull or anything like that…more chilled out, like making a good impression, having a few drinks, a spot of dancing, meeting a few babes.
